DIALYSIS NURSE (RN) - Leesburg, FL

DIALYSIS CARE CENTER/ HOME DIALYSIS NURSE(s) – RN(s)

Due to rapid expansion, Dialysis Care Center/Home Dialysis Services, a growing healthcare company, is seeking Registered Nurses (RN) to provide dialysis training (peritoneal or home hemodialysis) to our patients in the following metro areas:

  • LEESBURG, FL (In-center)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Home Therapies Dialysis Nurse is responsible for coordinating peritoneal dialysis or home hemodialysis care and includes patient training, primary nursing, and education of home treatment to patients.

A typical day includes drawing labs, training patients on Baxter peritoneal dialysis equipment or the NxStage system within our training centers, running monthly dialysis clinic with physicians, and home visits approximately once a month.

We provide extensive training to our nurses to ensure that they are comfortable and confident in their ability to train and care for patients.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Supervises, monitors, and directs the day-to-day patient care of Patient Care Technicians (PCT). Serves as a role model and a coach to PCTs. Ensures accurate and complete documentation by PCT on Hemodialysis Treatment Record.
  • Ability to work independently, and thrive in a highly collaborative, fast pace environment. Ability to multi-task and delegate responsibilities as allowed within scope of practice. Adheres to all facility policies, procedures, and protocols. Participates in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned. Participates in all required staff meetings.
  • Supervises and performs direct patient care including but not limited to taking and monitoring vital signs, pre- evaluation, initiation, monitoring, termination, access homeostasis, and post evaluation of dialysis, documentation, physical nursing assessment of patients, administering dialysis medications, transcribing physician orders, assessing dialysis adequacy, drive catheter reduction, participation in care conferences and in QAPI, may assist with patient scheduling.
  • Monitoring and reviewing lab results, ordering and following up of labs through Ascend, ensures correct lab tubes are utilized for prescribed lab specimens and that lab draw and processing procedures are performed accurately for all lab samples, ensure that all labs are packaged for shipping correctly, reports alert/ panic and abnormal lab results to physician.
  • Communicates all emergencies, patient life- threatening complications, and related situations to the attention of the medical director, physician, and clinical manager. Maintains competency with all emergency operational procedures. Ensures verification and availability of adequate emergency equipment.
  • Assesses patients response to hemodialysis treatment therapy, making appropriate adjustments and modifications to the treatment plan as prescribed by physician, assessing target weights,
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and infection preventative measures, performing safety and infection audits on a routine basis, ensuring patient safety at all times, monitoring Adverse Event Occurrences.
  • Educating patients and family members on all aspects of End Stage Renal Disease, collaborates with other disciplines to ensure patient outcomes are being met, instructs patients on pre and post dialysis care, provides ongoing continuous education to patients regarding their renal disease, vascular access and dialysis therapy, fluid management, dietary modifications, medication compliance, discuss modality awareness and transplant awareness.
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION & REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must possess RN license in good standing with the State licensing board of Florida.
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program.
  • Current CPR certification
  • 6 months of dialysis nursing experience.
  • Must be PC proficient with experience using Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Good presentation & excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be productive & resourceful with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong data entry, organizational, high integrity, good work ethic, and interpersonal skills

DIALYSIS TECHNICIAN - Crossville, TN

Dialysis Care Center, a rapidly growing boutique dialysis provider based in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, is seeking a Dialysis Technician at our Crossville, TN location. There will be on-the-job training.

Position Details: The Patient care technicians tend to ill and injured individuals under the supervision of doctors, nurses and medical professionals. Their duties include taking vital signs, collecting specimens and assisting patients with the dialysis process.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse etc.) and patient condition, and document observations appropriately
  • Take fluid samples or other specimens for testing, and prepare for shipping
  • Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments, i.e. hemodialysis therapy, etc.
  • Under the direction of a registered nurse, Monitor and document status of, and instruct patient in the care of, vascular accesses, etc.
  • Review lab work, physician orders, and reinforce treatment care with patient
  • Enter appropriate ICD-9 codes for lab draws into the computer
  • Ensure patients have adequate patient care supplies and monitor inventories
  • Ready the dialysis equipment before treatment and care for the equipment after treatment
  • Complete flow sheets (via EMR) in order to verify patient billing
  • Comply with company policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations for patient care and services (CMS, HIPAA, OSHA, and other governing agencies)
  • Participate in quality assurance and cost containment programs
  • Participate in individual & group projects as directed by management
  • Other duties, as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting; experience in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word and Excel a plus;
