Tunji Alausa, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Tunji Alausa, M.D. is a board-certified Nephrologist and the founding partner of Dialysis Care Center.
He currently serves as the chairman of the company. Dr. Alausa has created a national brand that focuses on optimal care for kidney dialysis and hypertension patients especially in underserved communities. He has also contributed tremendously to these communities by providing significant employment opportunities for various stakeholders.
Dr. Alausa completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital, Chicago; where he was appointed Chief Medical Resident responsible for co-coordinating the training programs of several interns and residents as well as an Attending Physician . Upon completing his tenure at CCH, Dr. Alausa was appointed to the faculty of RUSH University Medical School as an Assistant Professor, before moving on to the prestigious Medical College of Wisconsin to pursue a specialist training in Nephrology and Hypertension.
Dr. Alausa has published multiple medical papers covering diverse range of practices. His publications have transcended both basic medical research and clinical medicine and have appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine. In 2007 and 2012, Dr. Tunji Alausa was named one of America’s Best Physicians.

M. Sameer Shafi, MD

M. Sameer Shafi, MD is a board-certified Nephrologist and is the co-founder of Dialysis Care Center. He currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the company. He has built a stellar reputation for his dedication to the health and well-being of the patients he serves. Dr. Shafi incorporates a unique blend of experience, compassion, and skill. His insight was instrumental in launching the nation’s first Staff Enhanced Home Hemodialysis program. He is an Affiliate of the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where he was appointed Chief Resident.

Babajide Salako, MD

Chief Executive Officer

Babajide Salako, MD bringing on board more than two decades of dialysis experience in corporate roles across Fresenius Medical Care, Dialysis Care Center, and Kidney Care Center. Dr. Salako’s business acumen and extraordinary vision have warranted him numerous recognitions, including an award for crisis management and recognition from the Kidney Community Emergency Response Coalition. The breadth of experience continues to be instrumental in the double-digit Y-o-Y growth of several dialysis entities.

Vice President of Financial Operations

Michael Mance, CPA serves as Vice President of Financial Operations at Dialysis Care Center. Leading the DCC’s financial operations, accounting, and strategic acquisitions, Michael possesses over 30 years of experience in accounting, corporate compliance, financial reporting, and shared services with global publicly and privately held companies. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Illinois State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Michele Crnich

Senior Director of Human Resources & Communications

Michele Crnich has 20+ years of human resources experience in the healthcare field. Her insight and leadership have been instrumental in coaching, training, and developing countless managers and employees over the years. Michele utilizes her passion for people to volunteer for a variety of charitable events and is an active member of the Community Board for the Cancer Support Center in Mokena.

Paul Jackson has successfully built a 25-year career and spent years developing Elmhurst Hospital’s occupational health network. During this time, he received a nomination from President George Bush for innovative solutions in establishing a first responder Hepatitis B vaccination program. Paul parlayed his marketing expertise into the dialysis world in 2012.

Monique Barnes has over 20 years of experience in Dialysis in various roles in the LDO’s. Monique leads the day-to-day clinical operations for DCC.

Director of Revenue Cycle & Contracts

Lori Morrell has 20+ years of administrative experience in the healthcare industry. She manages the ever-growing revenue cycle team, successfully monitoring the monthly revenue. Additionally, Lori provides leadership on payer contracts.

Salman Azam

General Counsel

Salman Azam is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Dialysis Care Center. Salman is responsible for all legal, regulatory, and compliance operations for the DCC. Salman has also overseen the legal mechanics of DCC’s multistate expansion since 2018. Prior to joining DCC, he was Managing Partner at Azam Chandran & Gilani LLP. Salman has held leadership roles including President at multiple minority bar associations and serves on the board of several communities Not for Profits.

Dr. Shafi incorporates a unique blend of experience, compassion and skill. Upon completing his medical education in 1991 overseas, Dr. Shafi did a residency in Internal Medicine at Englewood Hospital, an Affiliate of the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he was appointed Chief Resident. In 1994, he completed his specialty training at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Nephrology. In 2000, Dr. Shafi finished a 1-year Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Louisville.
