Atlanta Kidney Walk

Walking With Purpose - Team Care’s First-Ever Atlanta Kidney Walk

December 26, 2025

For the first time ever, Team Care stepped forward in Georgia to take part in the Atlanta Kidney Walk. It was an experience rooted in compassion and a shared commitment to supporting kidney health in our community.

Organized by the National Kidney Foundation of Georgia, the 2025 Atlanta Kidney Walk marked a record-breaking year, bringing together 117 incredible teams and raising $168,163 in support of kidney health. Among those teams was Team Care, proudly joining the walk and making a meaningful impact in their very first year participating in Georgia.

Showing Up with Heart

This year, 30 Team Care participants came together for the walk and raised $2,340, more than double their original goal of $1,000. Each step taken represented support for patients, families, and communities affected by kidney disease.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the day was seeing patients, providers, and care teams walking side by side. For many participants, the walk was a way to support their patients.

“I join the walk for the many patients, past and present, that I have had the honor of taking care of over the last 12 years of my dialysis career. I walked in their honor,” shared Quantanya C., the Team Care Captain.

For Modupe D., RN, it was a way to raise awareness. “I joined the walk with my family to raise funds, empathize with people who are suffering from kidney disease, and create awareness. My favorite part was that one of my peritoneal dialysis patients also attended the walk.”

Supporting Kidney Health

Behind the scenes, bringing Team Care’s first Georgia Kidney Walk to life required coordination, teamwork, and trust. From registration to outreach, the process came together through collaboration, shared support, and the company’s deep commitment to supporting our local patient communities.

As part of an internal Team Care participation contest, clinics were encouraged to bring out as many walkers as possible. DCC Hapeville stood out, earning the highest participation with eight walkers, including one of their patients and their nephrologist, Dr. Ivan Claudio-Gonzalez. All participants from the clinic received a gift card in recognition of their efforts.

Dr. Gonzalez, joining the walk alongside his patient, came as a heartfelt surprise and served as a reminder of the strong bonds formed within the kidney care community. These shared moments, unexpected and full of connection, made the walk truly unforgettable.

Looking Ahead

This first Georgia Kidney Walk was just the beginning for Team Care. The experience highlighted what is possible when people unite around a common purpose and has sparked excitement for the Atlanta Kidney Walk 2026.

Thank you to Team Care for your heart, energy, and commitment. Your participation helped make this a record-breaking year and brought hope, awareness, and support to the kidney community –  one step at a time!
